Additional Information Though generally anti-authoritarian, Gunn cited the eminent doctors of the East; and though generally in favor of herbal cures, he also prescribed opium, mercury and vigorous bleeding. He treated even the riskiest aspects of medicine as appropriate for domestic lay practice.
