Description Fifth Exeter Edition of the 'Domestic Medicine'. Buchan was the first writer in English to combine in one book recipes for home treatment with general advice about diet, lifestyle, and how to live longer. First published in Edinburgh in 1769 and in America in 1772, it was reprinted at least 142 times over a century, and adapted to changing times until "Buchan" became in effect a brand name.
